Objectives

Our aims and objectives as a support group are:-

To provide support, information and advice where appropriate to individuals suffering from asbestos related diseases and their families, carers and friends;
To foster mutual help, cooperation and friendship between families, carers and friends of individuals suffering from asbestos related diseases;
To welcome everyone equally and take steps to make the group open and accessible;
To ensure that everyone within the group understands and respects confidentiality;
To listen to each other and respond with sensitivity;
To provide accurate and practical information, but not to give medical advice or make recommendations inappropriately;
To support each other through our losses, allowing time and space to talk about fears and grief;
To work in cooperation with the healthcare professionals;
To promote awareness regarding the problems and circumstances of people suffering from asbestos related diseases;
To use the income from fundraising to support further meetings and to act as an educational resource or to support projects that have been agreed by the committee;
To raise awareness of the ongoing dangers of asbestos.
